If anyone has watched Lonesome Dove, they have heard the name Hat Creek and in case you're wondering that is exactly how they got their name. It is a favorite of many around here and anyone who knows owners Denny Kreischer or Charlie Custer would understand. Once you get to know them you will see a little of Woodrow in Denny and a lot of Gus in Charlie. In December of 1997, Charlie contacted Denny about purchasing the old roller rink to make into an indoor riding facility for their horses. With the help of friends and family over the next couple months Hat Creek was transformed from old roller rink to "The Cowboy Place". In March of 1998, they held six bull rides. Since then, Hat Creek hosts 25 indoor bull rides a season with a year end Championship Final. They are also host to a spring and fall Lyle Sankey Bull Riding and Bull Fighting school.
